Hi Sarah, sorry this is so late and hope you found a suitable honeymoon destination!!

There was a lot of fish, but plenty of vegetarian options I would say with so much salad, rice, pasta and every sauce you could imagine. The breakfasts were amazing with everything you could ever dream of, and I don’t eat bacon/a lot of meat or anything but put on about a stone!!

Hope this helps for future planning if you didn’t got to Cape Verde that time.

Hi Kate,
Thanks for commenting (and sorry I haven’t been on for a while!).

Basically there are things to visit but not many and the trips are pricey. We were there 2 weeks and 10 days would have been more than enough as mostly we were relaxing/reading by the pool.

There was a constant breeze off the sea so my advice would be to take plenty of cardis!

Hi!

Sounds like Cae Verde is lush. We are looking for a honeymoon location for next May. Cape Verde is one that we have been looking at. My only worry is the food. I dont eat fish and it appears from all the info that i can find, that a lot of the food is fish. Did you find any variation in the food? Was it all fish related or do they cater for veggies etc?

Hi Rachael,

Thanks for reading, and glad you found my little article useful! Basically we just booked with Thomson through Thomas Cook (at the last minute as you probably gathered, as we were meant to be going to Cuba but the hotel there sent us a letter saying they were undergoing reconstruction work…), and there are various options like ‘I’d like a balcony’, or ‘Ocean view’ or whatever, and one of the categories is if it’s a celebration such as a wedding, honeymoon, anniversary etc so we asked that they tick that box for us and add a note. When we arrived to check in they must have had all this in front of them with our details and upgraded us without us having to do anything, so just make sure you get your travel agent to tick the right box when you book and put a word in for you!

Good luck and have a fantastic wedding and honeymoon. It is very relaxing and peaceful in Cape Verde and a great honeymoon destination:)

Were thinking of going to Cape Verde at the Riu Karamboa for our honeymoon next July and found your blog very helpful!!! With it being our honeymoon we would love to stay in a junior suite, how did you upgrade?

Any tips would be appreciated :o)
